Past exhibitions
Echoes, Gemeenschapscentrum Elzenhof, March 3-30 2026
For two consecutive winters (2024 and 2025), I spent long days at Lake Kerkini in Northern Greece, on a small fishing boat among the Dalmatian pelicans (Pelecanus crispus). These remarkable birds are among the largest flying birds in the world, with a wingspan of up to three metres and a weight exceeding ten kilograms. Despite the efforts of various conservation organisations, the species remains globally threatened. Thanks to artificial nesting platforms, protected zones, and strict regulations, Lake Kerkini has become one of Europe’s most important breeding sites.
With Echoes, I aimed to make visible the fragile balance between vulnerability and strength: the stillness of the water, the massiveness of the pelicans, and the slow rhythm of coexistence. The exhibition presented intimate, contemplative images that invited viewers to slow down and reflect on the importance of nature conservation.
